The Purpose

We, Donny and Mary Gentry, welcome you to Reign Dance Music. Reign Dance Music is the realization of a multi-faceted vision born from seed planted in our hearts by Blaydal’kni (see note 1), the Creator of all – Jesus Christ. “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that was made.” (John 1:3, New International Version)

We have come to the realization that God purposefully made us who we are. He has blessed us with our individual abilities and talents, bestowed upon us gifts of the Holy Spirit; and, as with all Christians, has called and anointed us to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”. (Matthew 18:19, NIV)

As members of the body of Christ, we are to “Speak out to one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices [and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord, at all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father. (Ephesians 5:19 and 20, Amplified Bible) Encouraged by well-meaning Christians to totally deny their God-given culture and heritage, and take on a “more acceptable” (from a non-Native perspective) culture and lifestyle. Perhaps this is the reason, even after more than five-hundred years of evangelizing Native Americans, many Natives continue to view Christianity as the “white man’s religion.” We, as Native believers in Christ, however, have come to understand that the fulfillment of who we are as Natives can only be fully realized in personal relationship with the Father, through his son - Jesus.

The focus of Reign Dance Music is to proclaim the good news of the gospel of Jesus to the unsaved world, and to encourage and build up the believers in Christ (the Church) through biblically based “spiritual songs” and worship in music and dance.

1. Blaydal’kni – “One-from-Above”, (Klamath Dictionary). Pronounced: bly-doll’-knee.

2. Don and Mary are members of the Klamath Tribes, headquartered in Chiloquin, Oregon. Don obtained his native Klamath blood from his father, Gene Gentry, and his Finnish, English, Scottish and Irish heritage from his mother, Darlene (Cooper) Smith. Mary is native Klamath and Coquille, and French through her father, Albert Summers. Her native Wasco and Shasta blood comes from her mother, Laura (Picard) Grabner.
